In March 2026, people gathered in Thondorf for \u201cIntergenerational Visions,\u201d an initiative that invited participants to help shape the future of the LandKiez. Led by the Center for Social Research (Zentrum f\u00fcr Sozialforschung e. V.), children and adults of all ages from the village, as well as from the surrounding area and region, were invited to three workshops to share their perspectives on the former estate and agricultural operation. In an additional round, the LandKiez association members and the Held family, the property owners, were asked for their views on the feasibility of specific ideas.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

The \"Generational Visions\" followed last year's extensive village survey<\/a> and have now proven to be the best foundation for dialogue, focusing not only on the functions of various spaces and areas but also on the needs, everyday realities, and wishes of the different target and user groups. A special method was used for this: empathy mapping. Perceptions, feelings, and behavior are at the center of this approach. The aim is to give everyone the opportunity to reflect on their own expectations and learn about those of others. The result is an impressive variety of ideas that could enrich life in the village and make it more enjoyable.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

What do people of all ages want for the LandKiez<\/a>?<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

In short:<\/strong> Children want more spaces for physical activity, adventure, and community. Working adults want more options that are better compatible with everyday life, such as co-working spaces, childcare options, or opportunities for spontaneous socializing. And seniors: above all, a sense of belonging, reliability, and opportunities to get involved. To combat loneliness and foster community.<\/strong> Possible solutions include a courtyard caf\u00e9, a co-working space, movie nights, creative spaces, or a grocery store.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

What matters now is that these ideas don't just stay on paper. THAT'S WHY: In the next step, selected initial approaches from the \"Generational Visions\" will be tested in pilot projects during the week of May 18\u201322, 2026.<\/strong> Stay tuned!<\/p>\n\n\n\n
