In its current issue No. 18/2025, the renowned architecture magazine “Bauwelt” has dedicated page 6 to Saxony-Anhalt's NEB_INITIATIVE “Together for a New European Bauhaus,” focusing on Zeitz and Zekiwa. “Real-life laboratory in the pram factory” is the title of the article by author Ulrich Brinkmann, who came to Zeitz at the beginning of June 2025 for the announcement of the decision to get a first-hand impression of the city and the ambitious project: “With the transformation of the former ZEKIWA production facility in Zeitz, the New European Bauhaus is launching its first real-world laboratory in Saxony-Anhalt.”
Ulrich Brinkmann took a close look and listened carefully to what the six partners presented to the Minister President and numerous guests in the “Room of Opportunities” on the ground floor of the already renovated main building that day, and what the goals of the Zekiwa Zeitz (RZZ) real-world laboratory, funded by the European Union, are. In short: how the future is being implemented in Zeitz. "... The money is to be used to turn the ZEKIWA site into a model project for vibrant, inclusive, and climate-friendly urban renewal that will also generate economic momentum, at least in the long term, for example by developing and testing natural building materials from local resources and bringing them to series production or commercial maturity. ... And a sustainable stroller is also on the list of possible products—this would truly bridge the gap between Zeitz's history and a new, circular economy. ..."
