The Festival of the New European Bauhaus is coming back in 2026, and Saxony-Anhalt wants to be part of it! Three projects from the state have applied to take part in the NEB Fair, one of the four pillars of the festival, which will be held in Brussels from June 9 to 13, 2026.
The NEB Fair is designed as a trade fair and exhibition where projects and prototypes that embody the values of NEB—BEAUTIFUL, SUSTAINABLE, and TOGETHER—are presented. With their applications, three NEB_PROJECTS from Saxony-Anhalt demonstrate how diversely these values are already being lived out in the state:
- LEHM-BAU-KULTUR (Halle/Saale): Establishment of a clay construction competence center in the historic Schwemme brewery. A place for learning, designing, and meeting that combines sustainable construction methods and collaborative work.
- Healthy.Together.Living in Kleinpaschleben (Anhalt-Bitterfeld): Conversion of a former elementary school into a family center as a new social hub in the village. A model project for intergenerational living in rural areas.
- ZEKIWA Zeitz real-world laboratory (Burgenlandkreis): Development of a model neighborhood on the site of the former ZEKIWA pram factory. A community-supported project for sustainable building, living, and working.
The NEB Festival 2026 has the motto “Life. Spaces. Buildings.” and focuses on the transformative power of democratic participation. It shows how citizens and local authorities can actively contribute to the creation of sustainable, inclusive living spaces – with a particular focus on affordable housing as the key to social participation.
We are keeping our fingers crossed for all three projects from Saxony-Anhalt that they will be part of NEB Fair 2026!
We are already excited to see what ideas, workshops, and hands-on activities they have prepared for Brussels.
