NEB_MEETS – Impulses for sustainable construction and urban transformation

NEB_MEETS 2024

How can cities, neighborhoods, and construction methods be made more sustainable?

NEB_MEETS invites you to find answers together on December 11, 2024, at the Saline in Halle (Saale). The event is all about networking and inspiration for sustainable and future-proof cities, neighborhoods, and construction methods. After the opening by State Secretary Dr. Ude, three exciting speakers will present their innovative projects and ideas:

Christian Sußmann – Sustainable and future-oriented construction

With a focus on historic preservation and innovative construction methods, Christian Sußmann from Sußmann + Sußmann (Magdeburg) demonstrates:

  • Preserving historical monuments – valuing what has been used:
What the construction industry can learn from monument preservation about sustainability, and how renovating historic buildings contributes to social identity and climate protection.
  • Pömmelte Ring Sanctuary – Back to the future with clay: The first new rammed earth building in Saxony-Anhalt since the 1950s and an interdisciplinary project that combines tradition and innovation.

Kim Le Roux – Experiencing circular construction in a playful way

Kim Le Roux from LXSY Architects (Berlin) brings fresh perspectives to sustainable neighborhood development and circular construction:

  • Impact Hub Berlin – Shabby Chic was yesterday: New aesthetics in circular construction with reused materials.
  • Trivial Circuit – A playful introduction to the circular construction industry: A creative way to bring sustainable thinking and action to life.
  • Wiegand Quartier Merseburg: Working with local residents to transform a former industrial site into a vibrant neighborhood.

Christian Hellmund – Redefining renovation

As a representative of gmp Architects (Berlin), Christian Hellmund provides insights into decades of concentrated experience in conversion and renovation:

  • CONVERSION – Nonstop Transformation: Decades of experience in conversions worldwide and exemplary solutions for complex projects.
  • Hyparschale Magdeburg – High-tech sustainability with carbon: A monument is being revitalized using state-of-the-art technologies and sustainable materials. In keeping with the principle of “less is more,” it demonstrates how carbon can be used as a sustainable substitute for steel.

Following the keynote speeches, we invite you to an open discussion with the speakers. In the second part, there will be news from the network office and we will offer the opportunity to exchange ideas, network, and learn more about innovative, sustainable processes and building materials.
