Silbersalz Festival: “Like in a beehive” – The NEB_OFFER: “From thinking to doing”

“It was as busy as a beehive,” reports Therese Lippold from NEB_NETZWERKBÜRO, describing the large crowds at this year's Silbersalz Festival, which took place from October 29 to November 2, 2025, in the former Galeria department store building on Halle's market square.

Visitors of all ages came to check out the wide range of science and media offerings, get inspired, and let the sparks fly, in keeping with this year's motto, “It's sparking!” The now traditional science market was held on the first floor, including a three-day workshop at the NEB_NETZWERKBÜRO stand, which was all about NEB values: BEAUTIFUL. SUSTAINABLE. TOGETHER.“ The focus was on ”From thinking to doing," balance, aesthetic sensibility, and perception with the essence that can be applied to major tasks: that things can be brought back into balance with care and the necessary tact. Many used the stop to find out what NEB is and what it wants to achieve, to learn about specific NEB_PROJECTS and funding, but also to take a breather amid the crowds of visitors, as they could also play with the Bauhaus chess set, designed by Josef Hartwig in 1924.

The NEB stand was flanked by exciting scientific innovations, such as research groups from Anhalt University of Applied Sciences working on new building materials made from fungal mycelium and grain residues, or insects as a possible food source for the future. For NEB stand supervisor Therese Lippold, the festival was “a good opportunity to meet network partners and connect with each other in the work to promote equal opportunities for the future.” In any case, sparks flew at Germany's largest free media and science festival. The organizers counted 45,000 visitors—a record! And #NeueBauhäusler were there!
