New European Bauhaus meets Industrial Heritage
We are looking forward to 12 April 2026, when sites across Saxony-Anhalt will once again open their doors to industrial heritage. From the very beginning, one of the key priorities of the NEB_INITIATIVE Saxony-Anhalt has been the revitalisation of identity-shaping industrial architecture. The New European Bauhaus (NEB) regards industrial heritage as an important resource. Its preservation and revitalisation are proving worldwide to be catalysts for thriving, innovative and creative (urban) development, while at the same time reducing land consumption, the carbon embedded in buildings, and the use of construction materials.
An entire region dedicated to industrial heritage! TIK2026 invites visitors to rediscover the industrial history of Saxony-Anhalt. More than 100 sites across the state are taking part, offering unique insights into its rich industrial past. The focus in 2026: the anniversary “100 Years of Bauhaus”.
A highlight for the NEB_FAMILY is the opening event on Thursday, 9 April 2026, at the rediscovered Peter Behrens Turbine Hall in Dessau-Roßlau: Rainer Robra, Minister of State and Minister for Culture of the State of Saxony-Anhalt, will present the first funding approval notices for applied projects related to industrial heritage within the framework of the state initiative “Saxony-Anhalt – Together for a New European Bauhaus (NEB) #NeueBauhäusler”.
In April 2025, the State of Saxony-Anhalt launched the corresponding funding call. From the applications submitted, twelve collaborative projects were selected as eligible for funding in November 2025. A total of €10 million from the European Just Transition Fund (JTF) will be available over the next two years.
The Industrial Heritage Day in Saxony-Anhalt is organised by the Industrial Heritage Network. The continuously updated TIK programme, as well as all information on sites and opening hours, can be found at:
