The first trees have been planted! Action Workshop in Kleinpaschleben

Aktionswerkstatt Kleinpaschleben

“Furniture Action,” “Tree Action,” and “Architecture Exchange,” plus a picnic with coffee, cake, and grilled food – that’s what people came together for on April 4, 2025 in Kleinpaschleben. The format, called the “Action Workshop,” brought together around 80 participants from the village in the Osternienburger Land municipality as well as students from Anhalt University of Applied Sciences with their professor, Nicole Uhrig. Under the beautiful spring weather, they discussed future outdoor furniture, fruit tree locations, and spatial layouts for the planned “Family Center.” This NEB_PROJECT, which received its funding approval in February 2025 as the first in Saxony-Anhalt under the JTF, aims to bring young and old together at the heart of the village. True to the NEB_CRITERIA, it is already firmly rooted in the principle of TOGETHER.

In the first activity of the day, various outdoor furniture series were discussed, weighing their advantages and disadvantages. Guided by expert input, participants tested placement options on-site before making final decisions. The second activity focused on the planned planting of fruit trees. The approach was playful—tree canopies were symbolized using bundles of green and pink balloons to help visualize their future presence. The highlight was the joint planting of two “signal trees” at the entrances to the future Family Center. The “Architecture Exchange” was led by the planning architects from the firm “Atelier. Schmelzer. Weber. PartGmbB,” who conducted a walkthrough of the former school building. Together with local stakeholders, they discussed potential entrance layouts, room divisions, and necessary fire protection measures.

It was a day that advanced the shared project while fostering the best kind of cooperation between the municipal and university partners. In other words: pure NEB.
