Building transition with imagination: LEHM-BAU-KULTUR in Bauwelt 1/2026

NEB_PROJECT and STADTUMBAU AWARD winner 2025: the Halle-based Schwemme is featured with an extensive article in Bauwelt issue 1/2026!

The ambitious, citizen-led construction project centred on EARTH-BUILDING-CULTURE in the old, listed brewery is presented alongside six further current projects, including examples from France, Poland, Spain and Italy. All of them are united under the issue’s overarching theme of a “coming building culture” and the question “What is architecture today?” Architect Le Corbusier, with his once-articulated ideas of a “new spirit”, L’Esprit Nouveau, served as a guiding influence for these reflections. “Those who lack imagination cannot be helped” is the quotation associated with the Schwemme, accompanied by the assessment: “The earth-building teaching construction site is a flagship project in the current debate on building within the existing fabric, with impact reaching as far as Brussels.”
