How can we encourage people to get involved in participatory processes? How can we ensure that engagement and networks remain active even after the project has ended? These questions will be the focus of a joint afternoon event on 25 September, bringing together all NEB_PROJECTS in Saxony-Anhalt at the Bitterfeld-Wolfen Multi-Generational Centre.
In the format of a think tank, participants will discuss the topic of NEB_PARTIZIPATIV in round-table discussions – prompted by insights drawn from real-life experiences. The day is being organised by the NEB_NETZWERKBÜRO Saxony-Anhalt under the title NEB_MEETS, the regular meeting of the NEB_FAMILY in the state.
Why it’s worth taking part
For NEB_PROJECTS from Saxony-Anhalt, the event is above all an opportunity for direct exchange: who is behind the other projects in the state, where are there similar challenges, and where can we join forces? Together, they are working on the themes of engagement and continuity.
For those interested , the Think Tank offers a first-hand insight into participatory practices in action: Which formats have proved successful, and how can the lessons learnt be applied to one’s own region or project?
The two topics in detail
Think Tank I – Engagement: How can we encourage people in rural areas to get involved in participatory processes? How can we initiate co-creation, how can we specifically reach children and young people, and which formats generate genuine enthusiasm?
Think Tank II – Continuity: How can funding for participatory initiatives be secured beyond the duration of the project? How can a generational transition be achieved in local initiatives, and what role do local networks play as the foundation for long-term effectiveness?
When: Friday, 25 September 2026, from 11.30 am
Where: Bitterfeld-Wolfen Community Centre, Straße der Jugend 16, 06766 Bitterfeld-Wolfen
Who is it for: NEB_PROJECTS from Saxony-Anhalt and anyone interested in citizen participation within the framework of the New European Bauhaus

Registration for NEB_MEETS on September 25, 2026
NEB_MEETS is taking place as part of the OSTEN Festival

At the annual festival in Bitterfeld/Wolfen, ‘art becomes an opportunity to discover, to take action, to make connections and to stay connected. The festival sees itself as a highlighter and amplifier of the dynamic energy of a region in transition, and aims to build something where much of the cultural offering has disappeared since reunification.’ Following the neighbourhood tour, all NEB_MEETS guests can get a taste of the festival programme straight away – allowing them to combine an afternoon of professional networking with an evening full of culture in Bitterfeld-Wolfen. So, anyone who wishes to can plan to spend a whole day there.
